Medical transportation in Schererville, IN is available through Dream Care Rides starting at $50–$60 (ambulatory), $60–$70 (wheelchair), or $350–$400 (stretcher) base per leg, plus mileage. Call (708) 505-6994 or book online for same-day and scheduled rides to Community Hospital, Powers Health Community Hospital Outpatient Center, and 4 additional medical facilities, just 30 min from our Olympia Fields headquarters.
Schererville has no licensed hospital inside town limits, which surprises people given how built-up the US 30 and US 41 crossroads has become. Hospital care means a short drive out: north to Community Hospital in Munster, west to Franciscan Health Dyer, east to Methodist's Southlake campus in Merrillville, or south to Franciscan Health Crown Point. Choosing among four hospitals is a good problem to have, but only if someone can get you there.
To book a medical ride from Schererville, call (708) 505-6994 or schedule online at dreamcarerides.com/booking. Rides from Schererville are private pay with the price shown before you book; Dream Care Rides does not accept Indiana Medicaid. We coordinate with discharge planners and case managers for facility-to-home and facility-to-facility transfers. Service is available seven days a week, including weekends and holidays; after-hours pickups carry a fee shown before you book.
Schererville grew up around the crossing of US 30 and US 41, and today it is one of Lake County's busier residential and retail towns. What it does not have is a licensed hospital of its own. Indiana's hospital directory lists none inside the town, so every admission, emergency follow-up or surgical stay means leaving town.
The good news is that four hospitals ring Schererville. Community Hospital in Munster sits to the north. Franciscan Health Dyer is west along US 30. Methodist Hospitals' Southlake campus in Merrillville is east on the same road. Franciscan Health Crown Point, rebuilt in 2024 at I-65 and US 231, is to the south. Each is a short ride; which one a patient uses usually follows their doctors.
Powers Health also runs a Community Hospital outpatient center on Harvest Drive in Schererville, so many scans and tests can happen close to home. It is not an emergency department and not a place to be admitted, which is why a follow-up visit there can still lead to a trip up to Munster.
For families, the challenge is juggling several places at once. We keep one record per rider, so the dispatcher booking Tuesday's ride to Dyer already knows about Thursday's scan on Harvest Drive and the wheelchair that goes along. When one visit turns into an admission, the ride home from the hospital is booked the same way, and the family does not have to explain the rider's needs again.
Local Insight
US 30 and US 41 both run through Schererville and back up badly at the intersection and near the shopping centers on weekend afternoons. For Saturday discharges and appointments we route around the crossroads on side streets where we can.

Schererville families mostly need rides that are short but frequent. A parent sees a cardiologist in Munster, has scans at the outpatient center on Harvest Drive, gets physical therapy near US 41, and is admitted to Franciscan Health Dyer after a fall, all in the same month. We handle each of those as one relationship rather than four bookings: the same phone number, the same dispatch team, and a driver who knows the subdivisions off US 30 and US 41. Our vehicles come from Olympia Fields, about 30 minutes west. Wheelchair riders go in ramp vans; riders who cannot sit up, cannot bear weight, or need a two-person lift go by stretcher with a two-person crew. Call (708) 505-6994 to set up the first ride or a full schedule.
