Non-Emergency Medical Transportation in Crown Point, IN

For fifty years Crown Point's hospital stood on South Main Street. On January 28, 2024, Franciscan Health moved its emergency department and inpatient care to a new seven-story hospital at 12750 Saint Francis Drive, at the southeast corner of I-65 and US 231. The old campus stayed open as the Franciscan Health Main St. Outpatient Center.

The new building carries Franciscan Health Crown Point's verification as a Level III trauma center by the American College of Surgeons, with neurosurgery available. It has close to 200 inpatient beds, a hybrid operating room for cardiac patients, a neonatal intensive care unit with private rooms, and a pediatric floor. For a Crown Point family, that means more complex care stays in town instead of going to Chicago.

It also means more discharges to plan. Trauma and surgical patients often go home with new limits: a brace, a walker, no weight on one leg, or a bed they cannot yet leave without help. We match the ride to that: a wheelchair van with a ramp, or a stretcher and a two-person crew when two people are needed for the transfer. Riders under 18 travel with a parent or guardian.

The hospital offers free valet parking at the entrance, but our drivers come to the door, so riders do not need to walk the lot. For discharges, the case manager can call us directly, and we can take the patient home, to the Powers Health Rehabilitation Center on Broadway, or to a skilled nursing facility, wherever the care plan points next.
