Medical transportation in St. Charles, IL is available through Dream Care Rides starting at $50–$60 (ambulatory), $60–$70 (wheelchair), or $350–$400 (stretcher) base per leg, plus mileage. Call (708) 505-6994 or book online for same-day and scheduled rides to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital, Northwestern Medicine Cancer Center Delnor, and 3 additional medical facilities, with dedicated drivers serving the Kane County area.
St. Charles has no hospital inside city limits. Its hospital is Northwestern Medicine Delnor, a short drive south on Randall Road in Geneva, and the Delnor cancer center sits right beside it. The Fox River splits St. Charles down the middle, and for riders on the east side every trip to Delnor, or to Central DuPage in Winfield, starts with a bridge crossing that can bottleneck at rush hour.
To book a medical ride from St. Charles, call (708) 505-6994 or schedule online at dreamcarerides.com/booking. We are primarily a private-pay provider. Medicaid accepted in select service areas — call (708) 505-6994 to check availability. We coordinate with discharge planners and case managers for facility-to-home and facility-to-facility transfers. Service is available seven days a week, including weekends and holidays; after-hours pickups carry a fee shown before you book.
The Fox River runs through the middle of St. Charles, and the city's hospital is not in St. Charles at all. Northwestern Medicine Delnor is on Randall Road in Geneva, just south of the city, on the west side of the river. For a rider on the east side of St. Charles, every hospital trip means crossing a bridge.
That sounds minor until it is 4:30 PM on a weekday. The downtown Main Street (Route 64) bridge is the city's main crossing, and it backs up with commuter traffic. We pick the crossing based on the time of day and the rider's address, and we allow for the delay when we set pickup times for appointments on the far side.
Delnor itself is a full acute care hospital with an emergency department, a maternity unit, and a regionally known cancer center next door at 304 Randall Road. The cancer center was expanded with a larger infusion area, and radiation courses there mean daily weekday visits for weeks. Those are the rides St. Charles families most often hand off to us.
More complex cases go east to Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield or north to Advocate Sherman in Elgin. Both are on our regular routes, and transfers between hospitals can go by stretcher when the patient cannot sit.
Winter adds another layer. Snow and ice on the bridge approaches and on Randall Road slow everything, and we call riders before their pickup when the weather turns rather than arriving late without a word. For daily radiation that matters, because a missed session has to be made up.
Local Insight
Randall Road is the main north–south route to Delnor and Sherman hospitals and gets congested near the shopping centers at weekday rush. Main Street (Route 64) carries east–west trips toward Central DuPage; the downtown river bridge is the slowest point.

St. Charles is well over an hour from our Olympia Fields headquarters, so we plan rides here ahead and ask for notice when you have it. The payoff is a driver who knows the geography: which Fox River bridge to take at 4 PM, where the cancer center door is at Delnor, and how Randall Road backs up near the shopping corridors. We run ambulatory trips, wheelchair rides in the rider's own chair, and stretcher transport with a two-person crew for patients who cannot sit or need a lift. Every leg is priced before you book. For cancer patients at Delnor, standing orders cover a full course of radiation or infusion. Call (708) 505-6994 to book a ride from St. Charles.
